Finally some good news! After TOO MUCH WAIT, I’ve finally received the money from the 2019 tax declaration. It’s a lot! Just enough to pay my taxes for 2022, which I finished filing this weekend… sigh. I just hope now they process 2020 and 2021 swiftly…

We went to Bern to apply for Mei-Lin’s police records from the Japanese Embassy. The whole process went surprisingly… as planned. Side Quest: Gold Card Renewal
Because I don’t want life to be boring, it’s also time for a little side quest: the renewal of my Taiwan Gold Card. I’m not gonna spend a lot of time here explaining what this Gold Card is and how it works, but in a nutshell: it’s a combined residence permit + working visa for… Continue reading Side Quest: Gold Card Renewal
Swiss Family Book Expense Tracking #1
It’s time to keep track also of the ridiculous costs for the Swiss Family Book, mainly documentation from Penelope’s side. Since we have already accounted for our first botched attempt under Serse’s expense tracking, I’m not gonna include it here. However, so far we have: Penelope’s first (botched) birth certificate requested from Taileng’s hospital: 100… Continue reading Swiss Family Book Expense Tracking #1

Regarding her birth certificate from Taiwan, the procedure is a bit different from the usual… Continue reading Mei-Lin’s Italian Citizenship Application Checklist

Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #3 And Mei-Lin’s Italian Citizenship Application
A couple of quick updates. First, Satan has replied. More or less like this: Most delightfully amusing peasant, That’s so cute of you to think that the same original document could be reused for different applications. Oh, and we’re SO sorry to request both Chinese and English versions, but you know, new rules… Wishing you… Continue reading Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #3 And Mei-Lin’s Italian Citizenship Application
Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #2
I am about to scream. You might remember the ordeal we started when requesting the Swiss Family Grimoire Book. You might also remember that we phailed badly the first (well, actually second) attempt – it’s a miracle we didn’t mess up anything so far, so no big complaints there. So, we had to beg Mei-Lin’s… Continue reading Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #2
Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #1
Oh this is so AYFKM, but it was basically our mistake. Mei-Lin’s relative in Taileng went through the ordeal of requesting Penelope’s birth certificate for the Swiss Family Book, and they sent everything to Taipei. I receive an email: Dear idiot, as it was clearly written on the letter you received, we do not need… Continue reading Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #1
