We finally completed the application for Mei-Lin’s Italian nationality. That involved filling a super-long, complicated and technically disfunctional online form, plus a couple of very frustrating calls to the Asylum for clarifications. Now we have to wait for confirmation before being summoned in person to the Asylum to deliver the original documents. The additional cost… Continue reading Mei-Lin’s Italian Nationality Expense Tracking #6

Since I started this blog I realized I introduced many “ad hoc” nicknames and overly specific terms, which makes it easier and funnier to write and to read posts, provided you are aware of all the necessary background. Given how long this blog has become, clearly I cannot assume this anymore from the occasional reader.… Continue reading Glossary
Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Success!
We made it! We have received the updated cursed Swiss Family Grimoire Book per post, and even without an extra bill! This was a silly long and exhausting quest but we finally made it. At this point the only other pending quest for the moment is Mei-Lin’s application for Italian nationality. Stay tuned!
Mei-Lin’s Italian Nationality Expense Tracking #5
We collected the apostilled Italian translation of Mei-Lin’s Japanese Schroedinger’s police records certificate. The costs for Mei-Lin’s Italian citizenship application are so updated: Translation: 38 EUR. Legalization in Court: 60 EUR. Total: 98 EUR. Plus the previous 724.60 CHF we are now at about 815.77 CHF (about 877 EUR / 959 USD).
Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #5
Great news! We got back from our holidays and we finally found in the postbox the Swiss Family Book certificate (together with a ludicrous bill) that we so much fought for! Except our daughter Penelope is recorded as Italian nationality only, rather than double Italian-Taiwanese nationality like our son Serse. I don’t even. I called… Continue reading Penelope’s Quest For The Family Book: Phail #5
Swiss Family Book Expense Tracking #3
We asked Mei-Lin’s relatives to retrieve, legalize and double-legalize another Chinese copy of Penelope’s birth certificate in Taiwan, and have them send it to Satan in Taipei. Satan sent the dossier to the Zivilsthing Zerneve, which issued the Swiss Family Book to us per post together with a bill to pay. Costs are so updated:… Continue reading Swiss Family Book Expense Tracking #3
Happy Holidays!
Things are finally moving the right way. We are currently in Spelunca, Italy, enjoying our deserved Sol Invictus holidays. Just before leaving Zerneve, we received communication that Mei-Lin’s certificate of Italian language knowledge finally arrived. We made it just in time to get an appointment and pick it up at the Asylum. Now the only… Continue reading Happy Holidays!
Mei-Lin’s Italian Nationality Expense Tracking #4
Mei-Lin went to the Asylum to open the Schroedinger police records certificate from Japan. Everything went fine, but the clerk at the Asylum made us swear to never ever mention the content of the envelope, otherwise the Seal breaks and He escapes. Unironically, they said they had NEVER seen a police record like this before.… Continue reading Mei-Lin’s Italian Nationality Expense Tracking #4
Some More Updates on Mei-Lin’s Italian Nationality Application
A few updates on Mei-Lin’s Italian Nationality Application. First of all, we have ordered online and received after a few days the (apostilled) Swiss police records certificate for Mei-Lin (that was the easy part). Then we called the center where Mei-Lin did the italian language exam for citizenship, because we have not received the official… Continue reading Some More Updates on Mei-Lin’s Italian Nationality Application
Japanese Schroedinger’s Police Records
This is so AYFKM that I’m laughing so much. With samurai punctuality, after two months exactly we have received the apostilled police records from Japan for Mei-Lin’s application for Italian nationality. Or at least I think so. It arrived as a recorded mail. Once opened, we saw there were two items inside: A smaller, sealed… Continue reading Japanese Schroedinger’s Police Records
