Dear readers, today I am happy to announce a new, EPIC saga of the AYFKM blog: I am going self-employed!
So far I have been only working as an employee for Swiss entities: a cozy state of things, a monthly salary, no fuss. But I have been offered a position from a remote (US-based) company which does not have a presence in Switzerland. Without going too much into details for now (this is just a teaser), I will become what is called ANobAG (which stands for something like “employed by a non-contributing employer”). In practice that’s a contracting agreement, where the employer pays me directly, but I am responsible myself for paying all the mandatory social contributions in Switzerland.
Setting up this thing is… not easy. Contrary to other, more common forms of self-employment, it is shocking how much people do not know ANYTHING about ANobAG. But I would like to try to avoid an accountant, to save some money, so the hassle is on me. I will detail in this blog my quest in the next days/weeks.
Wish me good luck!
